I am an accountant and a kenneth hews called saying there was a action by the ATO against "your name" as i can look up the tax agent portal and see there isnt any open cases against me for tax evasion and fraund this is definitely a scam
the ato call back numbers are normally 6 digit 13 numbers or 1300 numbers, you will be asked for by name and a reference number provided for you to use when you call back. Dont fall for these scams if in doutb call the ATO direct using the number on the website and never give out financial information if the ATO are asking for payment they can post you a payment slip to arrange payment!

This is the second call I have had in the last 2 months. Same voice and similar message left each time. Phoned ATO and is definitely a scam. Do not phone the number asked.

Her advice is very sound, do not call back under any circumstances.

BEWARE OF SCAM - Caller left message on voice mail claiming to be Kenneth Mathews from the Australian Tax Office investigating tax evasion and fraud. Demanded that someone call him back on this number. They do not usually leave such detailed messages. Just another scammer to be ignored.
