Posing as ATO/fraud

It seems like a mega scam. They use scare tactics. They told me I would be safe if I didn't tell anyone.

I didn't take the call but they left voicemail to call the ATO and repeated the number.

A dull-sounding American female. trying to sound 'important', I guess.

ATO Scam. Called them back, and they only had a voicemail service. Keep calling back to play music to their voicemail. Hopefully will fill the mailbox so they can't scam as many people.

Called me and left a voicemail so I called back and they said they were the ATO and I had comitted tax fraud for the past 5 years and they were going to freeze all of my ID, Passports, and the police were coming around to my house to issue an arrest warrent and I was being charged with 3 commonwealth offences due to my tax fraud - what a load of sh*t! Then they asked how I would like to settle my balance owed to them FRAUD FRAUD , BLOCK them!

Absolute rubbish recorded message, claiming tax office prosecution. Tried to call the number back, and it instantly disconnects.

This clearly was a scam - they claim they are from ATO and that they claim they sent you a letter. They ask you to return a call immediately

the ATO never call. These guys don't like being recorded. Why can't they find and arrest these scumbags.

SCAM: recorded message of threats, final warning. Big BS.

Mechanised american accent voice supposedly from the director public prosecutions on behalf of ATO and asking me to call. This is about the 6th time I have had this call. It's a SCAM. This has been raised on talkback radio and the head of the Consumer Affairs department warned listeners not to respond as they have conned people out of money.
