a threatening call about me not lodging/claiming tax and a warrant is out for my arrest

I returned a call I missed. He told me he was from the Taxation & Crime Investigation Department. He couldn't speak much english. Asked my name which I gave him. Wanted to know my physical address which I told him I wouldn't give out and said this sounded like a scam. The Taxation department wouldn't get some one to call me who couldn't speak proper english and I could hardly understand. Told him if this isn't a scam get someone to call me who can speak english and hung up.

rang the number back from an unlisted phone and it just rang through. tried a little later - the same thing. then rang back on my mobile and the call was taken - heavy accent that I struggled to understand. kept asking for my name. I then mentioned about myGov and I normally get all my correspondence via myGov. He sounded lost and insisted on getting my name. Such persistence - Alarm Bells just rang for me.

Checked myGov - no issues listed. Rang ATO and the person confirmed that all correspondence now come via myGov if we have set it up properly.

Recorded message. Assume it is a scam.

Received a call from a very upset client who received a call from this number. Obviously a scam because we are Tax Agents and the ATO will ring us first before ringing the client.

I too received a call from this number it was a robotic message claiming from ato and saying that I owe money, letter was unsigned and now a warrant is out for my arrest.

Telling me I owe the ATO $3,682.81 (so believable). He asked for my name and address but I told him if he’s from ATO then he should have my address. He also said he was calling from QLD on 21 birk street. He got extremely rude when I asked him more questions. This guys could barely speak English!!!!

Just hang up. Scammers who claim to be from ATO with some pathetic threats.

the ATO about a debt, scam

I had a recorded message telling me to ring this number as there is a warrant for my arrest I rang back I said how do I know I’m speaking to the tax department he said I have a badge I just hung up

I was told about avoiding taxes but when I returned the call it came from dunkin donuts & I was asked to place an order by someone who couldn't speak much English so I guess there is the answer

Said I was avoiding paying tax and to call the number. Having read the other entries for this number it seems (and sounded) like a scam.

Just got a call from this number. It was a recorded message supposably from the tax dept. Clearly it's a scam. Tax department wouldn't leave a recorded message. And judging by all the other comments it is a scam. Come get me tax department!!!

Recorded message from ATO - didn't listen to it all because I could hear it's a scam - I have blocked the number

I received a call from this number it was a robotic message claiming from ato and saying that I owe money, letter was unsigned and now a warrant is out for my arrest. I called the number back he asked for my full name, and asked for my current address. I didn’t provide my address and advised him I wasn’t comfortable providing these details. He claimed he was from ato and gave me work Id and advised if I would fight this in court I asked him where this debt came from he hung up on me. I logged on to my myGov and saw that I had nothing owing and called the ato directly to which they advised I had no debt and that they don’t arrest you when you have money owing.

CONTACT ATO DIRECTLY!!!! Do not call this number back and provide them any details!!!

Recorded msg apparently from ATO, something about unpaid taxes, warrant for my arrest and/or EXECUTION!!

A Recorded message from the ATO claiming I owe money and that action including imprisonment could result. I was worried and went to my Tax account and I owe nothing.They said my mail bounced back. I'm on maternity leave and have no income at present.

I listened to the threats about how I need a good lawyer as there is a tax evasion case against me for the year ending 2012. I told them I will get my accountant to sort it out, to which he replied that it has nothing to do with my accountant and I owe a thousand odd dollars. I put the phone down on him as it sounded like a scam when I know my tax accountant wouldn't make that kind of mistake......

If it was the ATO, then they shouldn't be calling to threaten me. Put your claims against me in writing and post it.

I called back and an indian man wanted my information when I refused he got rude and hung up. this is a scam number.

I missed their call, called them back and a guy started to explain something about miscalculations, tax declaration issues, allegations, and what not - they "found" in the period from 2011 to 2016. The fact is - I arrived to Australia 3 weeks ago, and got my TNF 1 week ago.
