Inventive buggers aren't that, Taxation Office, Law Suit, Account Mark Down...

I am greatly disappointed that the telephone companies do not cancel such phone numbers immediately. Crooks are always going to be about but it is when the large institutions simply do not care that they can be successful. Our government can't tie a shoelace without a Royal Commission or expensive advisers so we can expect them to help. But soon, soon, like the banks, other large institutions will be having to explain WHY THEY FACILITATE FRAUD and ILLEGAL ACTIVITY!!

Man claimed to be Adam Marshall yet had a strong accent. Gave me various case and ID numbers, obviously fake and claimed there was a warrant out for my arrest due to outstanding tax owings.

I questioned him heavily for obvious reasons, being fairly sure this was a scam. When it started becoming necessary to give me concrete info the guy hung up on me.

I tried calling the number back a few times for hilarity reasons but now they won't answer the phone. I sort of wish I hadn't been so aggressive during our first conversation as I'd love to know more about this scam since it's been around for so long now.

I have a same call with same conversion.
When I told the guy that he have to contact my accountant he hanged up immediately!!

The left a voice mail that made want to escape the country and run for my life. The male voice with a thick accent, probably from US, was speaking about some kind of "arrest warrant" and possible execution, and that the matter is urgent and extremely "time sensitive". That's all I could understand. I tried to call back but the number was busy.

Missed call from (02) 6176 0877 with voice message left, purporting to be from ATO, to tell me my paperwork was unsigned etc (as reported by previous people on here) and I must call back because this matter is time sensitive. I think not scambags!

I thought it was real- I’m a bit dodgey on my tax so I paid him $2000 plus a tip- I haven’t heard back

Claimed to be ATO. Then called back with automated message. Who can stop these people!?!

SPAM! Says I have a law suit pending for tax fraud and to call back this number. Of course I didn't!

I just got the exact same message , I blocked the number!!

Same as all the others - Tax avoidance - paperwork sent back - arrest warrant etc etc
Well spoken English voice very hurried though - too hurried if genuine Glad I checked this site for other reports as I answered the call for a 71 yr old lady who had recently entered a return - Bastards need 'finding and fixing'

I also asked for his supervisor's name and he gave me a case file number. Said I'd check with my tax advisor and he still persisted! He had my name and address - but maybe from stealing info from the phone company? Tried to report to the ATO but put on hold for over 10 minutes and couldn't wait longer.

I got this call just now and didn't pick up as I don't know anyone from Canberra. They left a voice message which was a robotic automated message. The first part was cut off so couldn't understand it clearly. But basically the robot said: "to address also return back unsigned and undelivered, who needs a petition needs to get filed including your warrant for arrest. Now before the case is sent for execution and to receive legal noticification for more information contact (02) 6176 0877, i repeat (02) 6176 0877. this is very time sensitive." Clearly a scam as the message doesn't make any sense, and my accountant is a legend.

Returned call from ATO message claiming there was a warrant due to tax evasion. Called number, a Person called Larry said he was from the ATO and there was a warrant etc. only way to stop it was to pay the debt $2,000, to stop going to courts etc. Gave Case No and reference etc. Only had 15 minutes after the call to do the direct debit or no other chance - threatening. Scary people!!!!

One said he is a sheriff of ATO. LOL

Total scam - sick of getting these calls - Indian male - too funny to call back lol
