Yea got a similar call. He asked me where I was from, I said Australia, he goes I know you are not Australian, where are you from? India,Pakistan,Bangladesh,Malaysia or Bangladesh. I said none, I am from Australia and then he asked me to go back to where I came from. Also he started speaking sexual stuff!

Left this message on my phone, "You are being listed as a primary suspect for the case being filed against your name and your house is under surveillance. Call (02) 6169 1043. Remember delay in calling us back may end in legal prosecution for you. Thank you".

Think about the distress caused by someone getting that. It's threatens their idea of safety.

This is a scam phone call, I got it today and reported to ATO straight away. Don't fall for it people.

Poorly recorded message claiming to be ATO and my house is under surveillance. The ATO doesn't contact people like this, didn't bother calling back

I just had the same call.
I called the number back, a man with an accent answered "hello" (the echo/background noise indicated it was an international call)... i said "who is this".... "You have called the Australian Taxation Office"
I said i had received a message to call him, he asked my name, i said "you have called me, shouldn't you know", then he said "is this Christine" i said "no it's not" he so aptly responded "Well f*ck off then" and hung up!

Same as above, claimed they were from the ATO, that legal proceedings would commence, and that my house was under surveillance. I rang the ATO and reported the Scam. They confirmed they had made no outgoing calls to me.
