Caller saying they are from the Australian taxation office left a message for me to return their call.which wasn't the Australian taxation offices phone number.
I rang the Australian ato and they confirmed its a hoax call.
The hoax called me again but this time it came up as overseas phone number and he had accent . I told him I had reported him to the authorities and he hung up.

Another phone number the ATO SCAMMERS are using is (02) 6188 5610 had a call from them today.

Same as mentioned above, Indian accent, message left on my answering machine....apparently an arrest warrant was to be issued to me for federal tax evasion, told to call number urgently. Grateful for common sense, this website and people sharing their experiences with these jerks. Hope they are found! Scum...

I had the exact message left on my phone on the same day 13.08.15, American or Canadian acsent, I live in Western Australia

Same thing - accented, from the ATO, law suit filed under my name for tax evasion, must immediately call them back, and have a "blessed day!". I wouldn't worry about this one.

Same thing happened to me today... Quite an aggressive message from an accent holder saying there is a law suit against me for tax evasion & demanding to call him back immediately. Then proceeds to say have a "bless-ed" day!

I'm sure if the tax office needed to contact you, it would be via an official letter.

This "low life" needs to get a real job!

I had a message left on my landline at 10.04 am today saying:
"I would you to call us immediately on (02) 6152 8677, I repeat the number (02) 6152 8677. This is Officer Lieutenant Matthews and I want you to call us back immediately, thank you and have a blessed day".
I listened to the message and thought it was very strange, the urgency of it. So I rang the local police and gave them the number, so they could confirm it wasn't a police number & the person wasn't real either person.

As mentioned above, the message threatened legal action if I did not return the call to this number. Of course I did not return the call.

Had the same sort of call on my answering machine (at 7.00am!) from (02) 6152 8369 mentioning something about an arrest warrant.

Obvious scam - I didn't bother ringing them back.
