I agree with Jason. I also got this message. Luckily I am a former legal practitioner and the whole thing rang alarm bells for me as this is certainly not how the CDPP or the ATO goes about things. Besides the American accent and use of US legal terminology (terminology not used here in Australia), the whole thing was implausible. Beware this fraudster and delete any message from him.

Supposed to be the Tax Office. It is just an automatic message to get you to call the scammer.

Recd call today on message bank from Lt Mathews saying from ATO for tax evasion. But didn't say who in our home they are calling for, alarm bells ringing as a scam.
