Ato scam

Irish accent left a message saying the ATO had filed a criminal case against us (no name) due to tax evasion and tax fraud and if we did not call this number back we were in trouble...

The caller said he was from the Australian Tax Office, he had an Asian accent and it seems very suspicious.

Left a message for me to return their call urgently as I was being investigated for tax fraud. Said I needed to contact them to prevent further action. Had an accent

Same as above. Surely the authorities could track down the people behind this; it's a lanline after all! Is there somewhere to actually report this sort of stuff? Some people will get caught out, and they're probably not the sort of people who fail to pay their taxes.

Yep, also received scam message on my answer phone. Very threatening if you do not know it is a scam.

ATO msg scam about tax avoidance

Call came from "Private Overseas" caller. Same as others' experiences - it was a recorded message in a bizarre accent and rushed manner, telling me I was being suspected of criminal fraud and to ring that ATO number or FACE THE CONSEQUENCES!!

I got a call from this number claiming to be the ATO and saying that they are running a criminal investigation into me for tax avoidance. It was an electronic voice.

ATO claiming fraud - get a life. Any such claim would be by mail!
Just a way of hacking into your personal details - don't fall for it.

Received a message on our answering Machine in regards to tax fraud had to urgently call this person ,knew straightaway it was a scam because I pay all my tax ,so beware the message could be taken as threatening if you are unaware it's a scam, says he's from the ATO in head office at Canberra

left message saying critical tax issue to sort out
