Yup its a scam they called me and said they were from ATO i asked which dept as i too work for the ATO and that they have called a ATO Sub Branch... then hang up tone... lol

you think Telstra or the police can do a reverse trace of the phone number and find these pricks since its been going on since May...

Why don't we all start ringing that number (via blocked phones) and tie up their lines. Give them false names like they give us - they use English names even though they are all Indian, so why don't we use Indian names such as Mahatma Ghandi or Amar Randish or Gupta Previ and really piss them off. If we tie up their lines and give them their own back, they may learn.

Don't lie down and take it - give them hell back.

received a message from the ato saying they had filed legal proceedings against me and that I should call (02) 6152 8655 with my personal details...............I think not....

Received the same call 9:15 18th of May '15, did as suggested and reported it to ATO 132869, gave up trying to find direct number so went through their switchboard.

I contacted the ATO this morning as I recieved 3 calls from them while I was at work..

I just got the same message so I thought I'd call back and let him ramble for awhile then tell him that was long enough to trace the call and we're coming to 'collect' him. But the number is cut off and spoiled all my fun :/ I can't stand these low lifes scamming people.

just got the same message tonight. i called my accountant then did an online check of the number which brought me here. My accountant told me it was a scam and then i found this site. Like to find this Alex King.

Received a message from the 'ATO' saying they were taking me to court for tax evasion. The number to call back was (02) 6152 8655 and I was asked to call back. I rang the ATO and they informed me this was a scam. Obviously they have been targetting others too. Hope the ATO get these guys. I recorded the message left on my phone and just listening to it, sounds dodgy. Please be aware of these scammers and don't give them your personal details.

Definitely a scam. A message told me the ATO were taking me to court for tax evasion & fraud - a local Commonwealth court in my area but no specific area given - and that I was to call this number to sort it out. I rang the ATO immediately and reported this phone call & number. They asked that everyone who receives this call do the same so they have more evidence to use against the people who are doing this.

Two messages left. Left the name Alex King. Can't the police nail the prick.

I rang the ATO and they said they do not ring people directly and do not send registered letters. They are Indians with Celtic/Anglo made up names, and became quite nasty. When I said to send me the evidence of this they hung up.I notified the ATO with the phone number and all the details they gave. Everyone should do this. Maybe then it will eventually stop.

YES! A definite scam! Received a very intimidating call yesterday. Called the REAL ATO to clarify and it is definitely a scam!

Dirty rotten scammer. How would an elderly person feel if they got a call like this. Could cause untold stress and anxierty, let alone loss of hard earn HONEST cash. This guy should be caught, locked up & the key thown away.

Yes, the same weird accent, message in alarming, threatening tone. It is lucky I have a clear conscience. I laughed the whole way through the message. There is no way the ATO would investigate in this way! Imagine the public outcry!

We have had a call as well. Sounds like a scam.

Caller is aggressive and claims he is from the ATO and is after me for some tax evasion. This is a scam. Don't give any details to this aggressive sh*t.

ATO Public Prosecution called via VIBER. Like most other scammers seems to also have come from their corner of the globe.
