Just had a dodgy Australian Tax Office call from this number

This is a dodgy scam of some sort. They left an SMS to call back, when I did 'John Smith' answered & wanted to know my name, I refused & he hung up.
I reported it to local police, who confirmed it was a scam & said nothing could be done by Telstra etc to block the call, go figure!!!!

Picked up the phone and got a pre-record message in an American accent claiming to be from the Australian Taxation Office. The message said to phone (02) 6100 3910 and speak to John Smith from the tax crime division. Obviously a scam to defraud people of money or get personal info.

I got spam called by this number also. I'm planning to report this to the police

Definitely a scam call. No one uses computer generated voices if it's an authentic call. And JOHN SMITH... really?

They straight up asked for a credit card number, but relied on motivation by fear of some tax fraud investigation... Stupid!

Had a recorded voice from this number saying it was a message from the ATO Tax crimes division please call back as its a time sensitive matter. When it said ask for officer John Smith it really began to smell. A quick google of the (02) 6100 3910 number confirmed it is a scam.

I called back number (02) 6100 3910 rang once then goes to busy tone.

This dial in range being used for scammers, don't answer calls from it and recommend blocking the number.
