SCAM ALERT

Posted on May 14, 2015
Caller type: Scam
Location: Australia
This is a SCAM saying that he is from the ATO and demanding money telling you there is going to be a warant out for your arrest and that legal action is about to be commenced, also threatening seizure of property. Another Number that is used is (02) 6140 3419

Same thing - a robo-call, clearly a scam, didn't bother returning their call obviously - claiming to be from the tax office.
Posting for other people to be aware of.

Got a Robocop call saying i should drop everything to dial this number Had a late night and couldnt catch the number even tho repeated - so googled "John Smith (lol) from the ATO Crime Division" and this forum came up on top - so good :-) .
Scum should be jailed for years. Like someone else said where are the cops on this??? Const Plod likes the easy stuff..but hang on ..shutting down these creeps IS the easy stuff...pathetic...will have to wait til its on 4 CNRS and becomes a pathetic election issue i guess.

So why the hell is this number still active? Its an Australian Sydney number, right? Its very clear that the number is owned by someone or there must be some sort of tracking on it. So why is it there? I got one of these calls today and 3:15pm on 21st August. So they are still doing it. So where is the NSW Police on this? hmmmmm.....

Answered an inbound call from (02) 6100 3029 which was a recording using a computer generated voice saying: "The is Officer John Smith from ATO Crime Division ..." and please call the same number back. This is a scam - a real caller would not need to call you using a recorded message.

Yeah this is a total scam and should be always reported to The Police.
Has nothing to do with the ATO.

Yeah we got one too. Asked my husband was he mad for asking questions and told me the police were coming to take me away, Obviously a scam, but when they mention tax office and warrants for arrest and prosecution you get concerned. Reported it to the Tax Office via my accountant.

Same message as others - told I owed money to ATO for miscalculation. Apparently I was sent warnings in 2013 and 2014 and now there was a warrant for my arrest. I was told to stay on the line & go straight to my nearest bank to withdraw the money within 45 minutes.
