Taxation Scam: Claiming with a recent audit that you had incorrect tax claim or no tax claim and might be avoiding tax. There will be a letter sent and possible warrant for your arrest. Then asks for you or your lawyer to contact them.
Australian Taxation Office would never do this.

Caller was very rude and aggressive. I told him that I was in hospital and that he could send the police whenever he wanted. I then told him that I knew he was a scam caller and he hung up on me.

left two messages on my message bank. Asian accented caller who claimed I owed income tax and my filing was incorrect and all letters sent had been returned unsigned and a warrant was now out for my arrest. Tax is up to date and my accountant does it anyway.

I too had a message left on my phone saying a recent audit that you had incorrect tax claim or no tax claim and might be avoiding tax. There will be a letter sent and possible warrant for your arrest. Caller had an american accent. I ignored as I had a letter from Tax office saying I had passed audit of my tax.

SCAM!!!
We are the ATO - You have a warrant for your arrest - you have an outstanding tax bill for "$XXXXX" You need to provide a lawyer or pay it now.
No offer of receipts or invoice, wanted to pick up vouchers at Coles/Woolies and claim the voucher numbers.
They originally said they would take a EFT payment to ATO account - when I asked for that option, they said "If you don't want to settle, that's OK, you will see the police in 30 min and then hung up"...
I have had more than that stollen from my yard and not had the police turn up in 2 weeks!!!

Got a message last night telling me I owed money for a tax bill, please return the call or get my lawyer to ring.
So I rang back this morning got hold of a Mike Anderson. Asked for my phone number & tax number.
Told him my name was Bob Down Sukmeoff.
"ok Mr Sukmeoff, can you give me your tax number"
Tried to drag the call out, but could keep a straight face.
Was then told to "fck myself' & he hung up.
Was a good try.

Another scam. They just rang my work number. The caller, with an accent other than Australian, said that I had unpaid tax bills and all mail sent to me has been returned. There was a warrant out for my arrest and I should call this number or get my lawyer to call them. Anyone who thinks this may be legit should check their MyGov account to see if there are any authentic messages anything Government related.

Yet another scam. Ditto above details. Caller (male of Asian accent) spoke very quickly he was hardly understandable but he left the message on my answering machine. As the other person said, the Tax Office would not phone - they would send a letter !
