Tax evasion scam. Called back and American person answered and I asked him how he knows that I didn't pay my tax, he said that he worked for the tax department, I called him a liar and to F--- Off with his scam considering I've already got my tax back ages ago.

Got a similar call 2 days ago from this very number - left msg on ans machine indian accent with american tweek. Had a laugh and didn't bother. Got a call next day prior to 9am this time female with russian/polish accent talking in slow motion. Kept her on the phone for 45 min leading her on all the while being told that the cops would be at our door as soon as she hung up. Told her we were ok with seeing men in uniform inspite of having such a large so called ATO debt. She kept wanting to know which option we were interested in - going to' federal court ' or paying about $5000 - we said we wanted neither as we didn't have any money but were happy to say hello to any uniformed friends if she wanted to send them around eventually all went quiet and then we heard her hang up. Did report it to the local cop shop and scamwatch. Hopefully they can find the number source and string the buggers up with whatever protrusions they have.

Yup, same call spiel left on the answering machine for the last couple of days, will have to find which service provide and make complaint, see how long they keep having a phone service.

I just got a weird call saying it was the tax office ATO and that there is a warrant for arrest if we don’t call this number!!

No wonder I had landline taken off. Not putting up with this scam crap. Surely nobody could fall for this INdian American talking nonsense! Peeeed off with two messages to date.

Have had 2 threatening messages on my answering machine. Irish accent so ATO sounds like ITO! Words like tax evasion, arrest, warrant and police are thrown in with a must call them back. Big scam!

This number was persistent. I was out and they called 4 times from 9.30 am to 1.30 pm. Thanks to this site I know not to call them back and have added them to the ever growing list of blocked numbers

Scam for sure they keep calling me, I'm sure if this was to be true the tax office would contact me! I'm trying to run a support service for Teens I don't need them to waste my time!

I just received this no. and immediately looked it up. .. glad I did as it come up as a ATO scam.... I told them what they were full of and hung up.

I have had the same issue! I've tried calling them back just so I can tell them to f**k off but, how funny, they don't answer! Cowards!

Also received a call from an Asian guy who said there is a criminal matter about to go ahead against me for tax evasion & fraud. Also said that if I don't respond they will approach the police and charges will be laid against me. Has to be a scam as he didn't even call me by name so it seems to be absolute rubbish.

I too received a call supposedly from the ATO. This is a scam. Do not call them back. I reported the call to Scamwatch. Its disgusting that these arseholes get away with making these calls.

I just had a threatning phone call he Left a message on my answering machine from some american /canadian ...threatning me with arrest ..he was horrible .Friggin Scammers

These scams are awful. I feel sorry for people that have been taken advantage of. If you get a call from this number, or telling you to call this number... or any kind of threatening / phishing call... don't reply.

Aggressive Indian-sounding guy, same general spiel - ATO, unpaid taxes, warrant, arrest, police, etc call back on this number urgent. Finished with "have a nice day" which cracked me up.
It seems that a lot of these are from number range 02 6064 2xxx. Sounds a lot like a switchboard trunk - surely there must be some paper trail that the police can follow.

Pretty sure some scammers saying that they represent the Australian Taxation Department. Note not the Australian Taxation Office.
