this company is scam. don't pay it. your credit rating goes down if you pay them. they said I owe money for a phone bill 3years ago to a phone company I never have been with. all scam. making you to pay them money. I asked for a proof of their claim but they said they don't have it and that they wont give it to me. next they called my number and without saying "hello" a man asked "whats your creditCard?"
nice try to rip someone of. where is the privacy?

It seems that it is acceptable for Australian Debt Recoveries to contact parents about their child's debt (even though it was a mistake by 3Hutchison/Vodafone) when child overseas and ask for contact details but when parent wants confirmation that the alleged debt was a mistake ADR hide behind the Privacy Act. Tarni, a manager, hung up on my husband and I three times. I'm going to contact 3Hutchison/Vodafone, then ASIC and ACCC about this matter.

Said they were a 3rd party debt recovery agency and that I had an outstanding debt to Vodafone. She called an office number (we have 3 offices, and I do not work in the office that they called). I haven't been with Vodafone for 8-9 years and have never had a "debt" with them. They tried to get me to divulge personal information such as DOB, address etc and I said I was not going to give that information. They said it was their privacy policy to gain that information before proceeding with the debt recovery. I refused again and she said they can email me the complaint. I said, and to what email address will that be sent to? and she quoted a very random email address that is not mine. Something like "Halo7711 @ gmail.com". I did give her my correct email address so I had proof that they contacted me. I then hung up and got in contact with Vodafone directly and they confirmed I had no debt outstanding and therefore they were trying to scam me.

That is because they need to ensure that they are speaking with the correct person and not releasing your presonal information to anyone. and yes before you say any one could knows those details, well its you silly fault for handing them out to every tom d*ck and harry, YOU should know if you have outstanding debt, instead of being a prick about it deal with it, you might just find out they are really easy to deal with and if you dont like the person you are dealing with ask to speak to someone else. SIMPLE

Tried to call me about my deceased mother's Optus account, she passed away last September. Optus and ADR are morally disgusting, as her service was cancelled and hasn't been used. Imagine trying to charge a deceased individual. I'd advise you to contact the creditor directly, as ADR are unhelpful and their operators are poorly trained individuals with low moral and ethical standards. Don't pick up.

They threaten to add it to your cr rating but they already have. A simple regular chk to make sure no1 is using your details lets you know how your cr eating is travelling. Vodafone has pathetic customer service in accounts at the best of times. Mid covid it was an utter waste of time, contract had ended, opened a contract with a better provider but they kept taking money from my account several months in a row they'd take $'s I'd spent hours on the ph requesting they stop. In the end my bank told me to lodge my card as lost/stolen. Bam in stepped these clowns who refused to provide evidence of debt $200, i refused to pay when they owe me money, every few weeks i get txts and emails adivising "a 1 off 50% off sale of my debt" haha, just like the clothes shops. Here's my deal, you get them to send me a cheque for what they stole for 3 months after the contract ended and i requested they stop. Getting the illegal addition removed from my credit rating will take to many hrs of crap, so all I'll do is keep my paperwork proving they owe me money, this is also being lodged as an online telecommunications ombudsman complaint for both Vodafone and ADR. In this day and age they should be providing evidence of what the so called debts are PRIOR to touching your cr rating. And as others have said, interupting people at their place of work should never happen when they already have other ways of contacting the "so called bad terrible person" there is a limit to the frequency and times of contacting people. Not all these debts are actually debts, dont pay unless you are sure it's yours. Check your cr rating before you pay anything and get something in writing that that bad record will be removed. They dont give evidence once you pay, so keep your bank record receipt number. And no, i won't be paying, i will be getting my refund tho. And i was prepared to let that slide prior to them handing it onto ADR.

Patricia from ADR- Australian Debt Recoveries Pty Limited.
If you have a call from this company get in touch with the Telecommunications Ombudsman and lodge a complaint against the service that you had recieved especially if you had a dud deal.
Click the link and go to 'make a complaint' and use the account reference number or the phone or NBN account number as the reference.
Try to think about what the service did not provide. Any issues with reception or hardware. The calls you made and attempted contacts with the service provider to resolve the matter.
Then request an amount that you would like to have reduced and that should get you started eg: bill could be $3000 and you would like the whole amount removed or part of it to make up for hardware that you still have (remember you can always return it). Allow 10-12 weeks however when you do speak with TIO make sure you respond within 48 hours as they will close the matter and the debt collection company will go twice as hard and aggressive as before.
What they can do is to lodge a default against your credit rating, if they do this and you think that it has been put down in error go to www.equifax.com.au and lodge a complaint. If the matter is not resolved go to your local federal member of parliament and they will help you get it fixed www.aph.gov.au.
Use these links they are there to help you not to keep you in stress. good luck and keep fighting.

This ADR is disgusting starting from the operator. Telephone operators needs proper customer service training. Badly needs learn ethics. disrespectful staffs, lucky you i forgot your name. I was insisting for my receipt because its been more than a month since I paid and they keep on giving excuses. You guys are disgusting to be honest, I am asking for a receipt of what I paid because I have the right and the lady on the telephone hung up on me. WHAT AN ATTITUDE lady! you'll get karma for what you are doing. I am working hard to pay my debt and you are giving me the thought that you guys are not giving me receipt because my debt was outstanding for several months! how dare you tell me that! you are a soul-less creature. i know these words dont matter with you anymore u are used to it but i meant it. Karma will go after you for being such a rude, unprofessional, dispectful receptionist!!!

I returned a phone with Vodafone under the 30 day network guarantee. Despite this the account continued and was passed on to ADR, this is a bunch of rude ass-holes. I showed multiple pieces of documentation to prove I had returned the phone. They ended up just saying we can't do anything about the debt unless Vodafone tell us too. That is when I realised they didn't buy the debt. ADR can't do anything to you. Your account or issues still reside with the company claiming you owe them money. So if I were you I'd contact the company directly. That is what I did, not my issue with Vodafone is resolved. However despite this ADR still try to contact me.

ADR are a 3rd party agency who work on behalf of clients such as VODAFONE, OPTUS ETC - ALL invoices are sent out prior therefore ADR are not privileged to this as they DO NOT purchase your debts.
If they are calling you it's generally for a good reason - even if you hadn't been with for EG one of the clients listed above for 3 years collections can continue for up to 5-6 years after a contract has ended - I highly recommend you contact them ASAP as once your credit rating is affected it remains for 5 years.
