Caller: "Jenny" from "Centrelink" first starting with an auto call Suspecting a scam, I attempted to call back on this number and Optus informed me it was not a valid number, then Jenny calls me again demanding why did I not call her back and I said her number was not a valid number and here in front of me I have all the correct numbers on Centrelink/Dept Human Resources website so I told her that my initial thoughts of a scam were correct and then she proceeds to tell me to go to my local Centrelink office to sort things out.......?!

Caller: she said Jenny from Centrelink My elderly mother was told that she was underpaid $2,500 but she had to pay $400 to get it. I rang the (02) 4040 9829 to inquire . Jenny told my that I had to purchase a Apple I tune card to the value of $400 from my local post office and that she would ring my back so that I could give her the card number,

Caller: (02) 4040 9828 Sounds like center link to start with but when they come on the phone its very obvious that its an Indian call center ---- they are trying to get pension registration details out of you or scam you for money

My elderly mother has received calls from this number . She said it was automated and that it said she hadn't replied to the letters that Centrelink had sent her. She made a note of the number and called me. I was able to check on this site so was able to reassure her. So thanks to you those who have posted here. I rang the number to see what response I would get. Firstly a recorded message that sounded VAGUELY like Centrelink, and then an Indian male answered. When I asked why my mother was being rung about letters from Centrelink he hung up . I think, enough said! And I will be reporting this to Centrelink tomorrow.

Caller: (02) 4040 9828 Sounds a bit official but the accent is usually a give away.
