Wow talk about persistent!!! We are registered as DNC & have all calls going to a recorded message with an option to leave a message. This number called on the 28 of November 2016 at 12:30pm, 1:15pm, 3:02pm, 3:34pm, 4:06pm, & finally at 4:25pm (all on the same day).
Our message CLEARLY states that the number is on PERMANENT recorded message because of telemarketers (it's a VoIP line we only make outgoing calls on) the message states that to call this number is illegal (DNC registered). Not once did they leave a message - absolute scammers!

Phishing Scam

Got a call from Ben. Who said he was calling from the Automobile Association. Expressed that I had received minor discomfort from a car crash in the last 12 months and offerered to assist with a claim. Stated he was from a 'claims managment company'. I asked if it was a law firm, making an unsolicited call. He said yes. I asked for the name of the principal solicitor; he said he 'forgot'. He was unable to provide an ABN or ACN. He was able to provide my name, phone number and address, and the name of my insurance company. I asked for a website; he provided totalmotoraid.co.uk. He said he was calling from the UK (did not have a British accent). I asked for an address for the company in Australia; he said he had 'forgotten'. I asked him to look it up on his website and he eventually provide 123 Pitt Street (a Wilson's Parking Lot).

This company is not in the Australia, and not in the UK. This company is using an internet purchased phone number.

This is a blatant phishing scam. They are trying to trick you into giving out personal information such as your bank account numbers, passwords and credit card numbers.

Report the privacy breach to your insurance company.
Report it to the privacy ombudsman https://www.oaic.gov.au/
Report it to www.scamwatch.gov.au.
Report it to http://asic.gov.au/about-asic/contact-us/how-to-complain/how-asic-deals-with-reports-of-misconduct/.

If you've given out any personal information to them, notify the police, the bank, and your phone company.

Had a call from this lot on Thursday this week regarding an alleged accident from 18 months ago. Told the female caller that I didn't have an accident 18 months ago and hung up......just another scam

just received a call whose accent was hard to understand - she asked me if I'd had an accident in the last 18 months . She had my name and address BUT was pushing very hard to get my car number plate number .She told me I will get up to $7000 dollars in compensation ! ! THIS SEEMS DODGY - what do others think .She said customer service will phone me when I would not volunteer any info .Also she said they were ringing on behalf of the RACV who settled the claim. WHAT DO YOU ALL MAKE OF IT

Definitely a scam – I had 'Dan' from Auto Assist call today... even though they asked for me by name, I was never involved in any accident. He claimed that he was given my details by a third party insurer but couldn't provide any details about this other company. When I asked for a contact name and number for who had passed on my details he pretended he couldn't hear me because the line was bad and hung up.

This number continually rings us - did so within the last ten minutes. I have never answered the call, simply because the number in all its combinations does not look like an Australian landline or mobile.
Having read the comments below, have a better understand.

One wonders about the effectiveness of the DNC register, since we have been registered for many years, but still get calls such as this.

Very persistent. They have tried phoning me 5 times just today alone 10.04am, 1.44pm, 2.21pm, 3.09pm & 3.40pm

Also on the DNC register which I don't think really does anything.

Have to be scammers since they are annoying.

Also had a call tonight saying a similar thing. Ben Smith from Auto Assist. I said I think this is a scam and he tried to tell me "we are a legit company and if they were a scam we would be asking for bank details". I didn't give them any info and instead asked for his number and said I will call back after I check the authenticity. Said he had to give me the 'international office' number. Won't be calling them back.

Have had four calls from this number today. Didn't answer any of them. The numbers are weird, so know they are not real calls but scammers.

I had a call this afternoon from "Morgan Tag" (I asked him to spell his last name-he purported to be from Auto Assist, in Melbourne Australia! about an accident (minor) that I was involved in, with in the last 18 months. He couldn't give me details, date or time, but he did have my name and address. He said he had to check details, then return the file to AIG and they would be in touch within 72 hours to arrange to get me between $2K & $7K. There has been no accident, I said it's a scam and he assured me that it was not!!! HO HO HO What is the point???

same as above - however I gave no details away but asked him a lot of questions - his name was Morgan Tag ?? calling from Melbourne from Auto Assist, ringing on behalf of GIO Insurance company who will give us some money for an accident we had in the last 18 months (which we didn't have!) He knew our property address and the nearest town name - very annoying. What is the point of these calls??

Just took a call from them...wasted 15 minutes of their time...even baited them to have the "supervisor" ring back sooner than the 24-72 hours (which they did whilst reporting the scam to the insurance company they named!) I hope my fake Texan accent didn't tip them off :)

Waste their time...all of it!

These parasites are absolutely ruthless!!! They called one of our "do not call" VoIP numbers which is on permanent message bank four times in five hours on Friday afternoon (the message we have clearly says we do NOT ever answer this number).

They either are idiots or it's an auto dialler & obviously a scam as we have NEVER had any accident as others had!!! Our message even states that any telemarketers have broken the law by calling us. They have also previously called us & received the same recorded message which they seem to disregard. Our VoIP numbers are strictly used for outgoing calls hence we NEVER answer any incoming calls.
