Hi,

I am another victim of this scam which Telstra allows to happen. I have joined Telstra SIM only mobile plan couple of months ago and I have been charged $6.60 from 1G8 PTY LTD every month. I called Telstra and spoke to a guy called "John in India.." to find out why I have been charge by this company. He said that I may have downloaded games or subscribed something online. I told him I don't play games and I rarely use my mobile data. He said he can put a stop on receiving premium SMS on my mobile and their team will contact 1G8 company to refund me the money. I doubt if I get my money back. Also, I have been charged about $18 extra for no reason on my mobile plan. I rang Telstra and enquired about that too, after being put on hold for 10 minutes they gave me a bogus explanation and said they will adjust my bill. I will request everyone to please check your bill before paying. Now I regretting big time joining Telstra.

Had charges on my mobile account from these scum bags iG8 . I have just spoken to a nice lady at Optus ,she has put a bar on this , hopefully this will help me out of this scam ! .

Harry, IG8 promised on 10/3 & 11/4 to send me a bank cheque to refund the spurious amounts charged to my Telstra mobile account; still waiting. They firstly asked for my bank account number - NO CHANCE!! How did you go? Each time I have spoken yo a guy called Steve, who has to go to see his boss.

I have also been charged $6.60 for over a year fo no reason. I did not accept anything to be charged this. I contacted telstra who told me that they would need to investigate why l've been charged for this service before l could be refunded. I mentioned that hundreds of people have clearly reported this issue to Telstra and it is unacceptable they Telstra is allowing this fraud on a daily basis.
Advised they could "bar" my service from receiving these opt-outs, which l did but that's not the answer. I've issued a formal complaint & suggest others do the same.

I too have been hit with third party charges from IG8 for premium SMS services. I discovered this has been happening for several months. I am appalled that Telstra pass on 3rd party charges which I have never authorised Telstra to do. I don't even know who IG8 is. Furthermore when contacting Telstra about this I was told to call the 1300 number listed beside the charges to cancel the premium SMS services. I called the number and it said that the premium SMS service numbers on the Telstra bill were not valid. So I called Telstra back and they said they would do the barring of premium SMS services and reverse the charges. I asked for confirmation by email and SMS, neither of which arrived.

I have been charged $7.09 (including gst) for the last 5 months! have spoken to Telstra, because I already had an ongoing Ombudsman complaint about me internet " service", they refunded me 3 months worth, but the next 2 bills it was still being debited. Telstra told me they weren't going to refund me any more , even though I never asked for whatever it is! I've just paid the difference in the bill! I contacted the coy, they said they'd stop billing but have not. My next move is to return to the ombudsman. Print any correspondence you have first if you follow my advice. There is no further point in trying to deal with Telstra . They are just BULLIES!

God help the prowl that do not check their bill from Telstra and Optus.
We need to put this on TV in a big way!
What has it come to when Telstra can let these people get away with a hold up.
It is worse than ISIS.

I was also hit with two monthly charges for $6.60 each. I rang Telstra and the 1st lady was quite rude and told me to contact the company who put the charge on my bill. Today I received another bill with yet another charge.i rang Telstra again and a very helpful guy called Chris reversed these both and credited my account with $13.20. He also barred this company from charging me again.

Well yes I have been scammed as well, I noticed IG8 PTY LTD 3rd party charge of $6.60 on my telstra bill, asTelstra had moved me from G2 to G3 plan as they will discontinue G2 due to the NBN coming into use, I notice the IG8 on my bill for the last few months and thought it was to do with a telstra charge in changing my service.

I first googled and realised it was a scam - I rang the IG8 on 1300 795 070 number on my bill and unsubscribed from (INPHO "19904598" MT then pressed "2" at the end of the promps of the automatic service when asked if I required to speak with someone who would call me back, I left a very expressive message about their billing for "fresh air" - so lets see if IG8 rings me I dought they will anyway after hanging up I received a text message to indicate I had been unsub, I then rang Telstra and stated that I understood that they had no control over the situation however could they block 1900 numbers from my mobile phone, this was done while I waited and Telstra offered to adjust my bill for 1 of the $6.60.

I guess that is better than nothing however these SCAMMERS had already taken me for several months charges for something called "Planet Magic" that is impossible for me to receive on my phone as I have an old flip top phone that doesn't even have a camera or is able to excepted photos let along a download of "planet magic" what ever it may!!!! as I don't have or even able to conected the phone to the internet, I an 65 years old and " don't play games" or have anyone living with me who would touch my phone for that matter.
especially when I keep the phone in my bra.

The only "Planet Magic" I know of is IG8 managing to rip people off while Telstra willingly and knowing are collecting the income for them. - and they would be charging for this service.

TELSTRA Wake up - get a back bone this is damaging your reputation - you must be able to get something done by law, the Onbudsman, Solicitors advice, something please, there must be a loophole if the ABN is no legitament refuse to collect this business's charges for services not subscribed to or wanted and stop this fraud of our - your customers money from going overseas

This all seems to be in regards to Telstra customers however I am with iinet and am also receiving the unsolicited charges/SMS's. iinet have offered to credit me the ones for the last two months however said they were unable to bar or stop them and that I had to contact IG8 Pty Ltd to opt out. How can you opt out of something you didn't opt into in the first place!!! Waiting on someone from IG8 to call me back - will see how lucky I am but I will haunt them ( iinet and IG8) till these SMS's stop!

We have also received a $6.60 charge on our Telstra A/c. I phoned Telstra yesterday - the employee put a bar on our account for these calls, and told me to phone 1300 795 070 to contact IG8 Pty Ltd. and get a refund and also to unsubscribe. I did manage to speak to an Asian woman, who told me she was in Australia (do I believe her?), and said I would receive a refund cheque within 2 weeks, and she also unsubscribed us from this service??? Will wait and see! After checking this comments website, I phoned Telstra again today. I told the man I would not pay the charge on our current phone bill, however, if a cheque DID arrive, I would then pay. He also said if this didn't eventuate, he would credit our account. Time will tell.

How come a so called respectable company like TELSTRA allows this to happen. May we ought get together and take a class action against TELSTRA. How much are you getting out of this Mr TELSTRA? Shame, shame, shame.

Reading all your messages I too have been a victim to this Scam. I thought it was a Telstra charge to the plan I am on but I have been getting an $6.60 charge since the beginning of the contract by IG8.
Time to talk to Telstra. FYI I am 53 and certainly don't play games or read the phone.... That's what television is for... .

Just received my Telstra bill with a charge from IG8 Pty Ltd. Have had these charges on the phone bill for a few months and ignored them thinking it was for something that had been acquired. Investigated the company on Telstra white pages and got a phone number (02) 8303 8200. Select option1. Left a message with a promise for a call back in 24 hours.
Search of the ASIC website shows the ABN as 48 151 071 439.

Just got my telstra bill with $6.60 for 3rd party charges to ig8 who i have never heard of.
Rang ig8 number to unsubscribe and was unsuccessful
Rang telstra who have credited my account and said i would not recieve any more texts from ig8 suprise suprise I just got a text from ig8 telling me that i have unsubscribed wonder how telstra got thru so quickly hmmm?

I have just been on the phone to Telstra for 26min concerning the scam of IG8 Last month was charged but when I went to the Telstra shop they said not to pay it so didn't and now on this bill have been charged 33.25 again and being a pensioner this is very upsetting. I have paid this bill less the 33.25. and in the 26min call they told me to ring the dialogue communicat the other num I was given before and it is a recording which is useless. I have got more information out of the comments than from Telstra and my call was answered by someone that spoke so quickly I could not understand him then he put me through to billing and had an Asian girl and found her very difficult to understand. half the time I did not know what they were saying because of their accent and speaking so quickly.I now have to ring the 1300 738 639 number.
