Hi I just got a new phone &have also been hit with charges Scam The only way out is to bar all Premium SMS services from your phone through your provider. Your time is probably worth more than trying to get a refund from the scammers

Hi all' this has just been brought to my attention by my wife. Reserching over the last couple of days, lots of reading 'posts'. Well yes its still going on as late as the Jan-Feb Bill we have. We went right through the Bills (paper that is) there it is! When will the Accc do something about this!

Yep. Same sh*t happened to me. Was charged $5. IDIOTS at Telstra shouldn't be allowing this to happen. Furious.

Just got a new phone & first bill YEP charges from IG8. Contacted Telstra who conveniently blamed my son as soon as I said I had a son living with me, because I got angry & said it was NOT me, who downloaded/subscribed to something. I was also told that Telstra do not have the capability to bar 1900 numbers, so my option was to have Premium SMS barred. Why did I even have to use an option to bar a service I didn't even want or subscribe to in the first place. Convenient way to make more money I think. Just another Scam to watch out for.

I have had the same charges onto my Tesltra bill I rang a helpful lady at Telstra, I was very patient, and calm explaining the situation. She asked if Id played games on the phone, I said no, I wouldn't know how. She asked if Id tried to ring the number to contact the company, I said yes but no one answered, and I believed they wouldn't as I think that it was probably a scam. She tried to ring them and also go no answer. At the beginning of our conversation she said she could credit only the 1st month, but after talking to me and (I wasn't loosing my temper, I work in retail and the angrier people get with me, even if the complaint isn't my fault, the less Ill go out of my way to help!). So in the end she said because I was a long time customer with Telstra, I paid my bill on time, she credited me the FULL amount of $52.80 and put a stop to any of these charges being done in the future. (she even explained that Id no longer be able to vote on any tv competitions, which doesn't worry me because I don't do that anyway.

I am a recent victim too...after getting an updated phone in May I didn't really notice the $19.80 & the $26.40 extra in June & July bills respectively, as sometimes you get charged for extra data, etc. However, when the August bill was nearly $150 on a $95 plan I knew something was wrong. After visiting the Telstra shop yesterday & being told I'd made 8 third party purchases I knew it was a scam. I recalled being offered to play games via text but I never opened the texts, just deleted them. Now I know I was charged for them!!! (I will always check the exact charges each month from now on, which I used to do when receiving paper bills). Imagine how much you would pay if you actually played these so called games with IG8! After being advised to ring Telstra Customer Service I was told about IG8 & he barred the service immediately. Within hours I was very grateful to have Telstra credit the $52.80. Obviously I have lost the previous amounts, but for me the scam would have totalled $99 over 3 months, just on my account...how much is this parasite 'Steve' making on unsuspecting customers?? I see this has been going on for well over a year after checking out posts on Google about IG8. So WHY hasn't this bastard been shut down in all this time if Telstra already knows it's a scam. A bloody disgrace!!!

I disputed G8 Pty Ltd charges of $6.60 with Telstra and they removed the charges. They put a bar on these types of services too. I demanded they investigate this as it is a scam
