Ive been getting calls from this number for the last week or so. Initially, around 20+ calls per day, from 7:30am~11:25pm for the first few days but have tapered off to about 8 calls a day. Still haven't answered any of them and what I've read from others in this forum, you could be charged $6.00? If you answer? Maybe I should just accept the call, pay the fee and move on. Then they'll stop calling? but then again being married for 40 years, I've learnt how to play, and enjoy, stupid mind games. Bring it on!!

You don't have to speak, answer the call and listen to the message, "someone you probably know" has sent you a text message to your landline phone.

Store their number in your Phone Book but when you do, set the Ringtone to 'OFF' When they call back, you won't even hear them. Then you'll have a............................ Silent Knight:~))

Rubbish < what this number does is send a text message to your home phone = landline. In my experience if you listen for a short few seconds a voice message will deliver a great long number (barcode of a parcel )followed by "Tracking number" and the original phone from where the number was sent. It lets you know a parcel has been sent to your post office box and if you could record the number quickly enough you will find when your parcel arrives it is the parcel barcode #.
So for one just this once mind you it might be a legitimate message. In order not to miss some thing which may be of importance it is a good idea to listen to the silence for a voice message ....then if its a telemarketer vent all your spleen possible inthe normal abusive way. My wife says I am rude. I have aright to be if its scammers but it is not always so

After I read comments on this site I thought the number must have been a scam/telemarketer. However, luckily i took the chance and answered and listened. Long pause then a message to say my husband was at the hospital with his mother. This is actually a mobile sms converted to voice through the Telstra service. Not a pest call!! I've added the number to the phone address book. Have received more calls from husband this way.

It's a Telstra message to text thing; if you answer it, there will be nothing for a few seconds, then either 1) a message that makes no sense, as those voice to text msg services rarely work, or 2) the service will tell you it can't be delivered. Either way, let it do the message, and then it should stop. It will give you the number of the person trying to leave the message as well, assuming it isn't blocked. No need for ISIS to get involved, Super Angry of March 21. It's a dumb service that doesn't work. Because we are inundated with all these annoying callers, we see a weird number and don't answer it; in this case, that will cause repeat attempts. Remember when a fax thought your number was another fax, and the "REPEAT DIALLING" button had been selected, and we would repeatedly answer the phone to the electronic shrieking of fax messages? So there's your explanation. Tell the person trying to leave you the messages to stop; they don't know either.

This is "Telstra Talking Text", problem is I am NOT a Telstra customer and am using an IP phone via iiNet. I can't turn this rubish off......

0198339999 has called me 11:30 PM then 11:40 PM and now 11:46 PM. They are Indian Scummers that charges you when you answer the phone. They send a $6 Dollar Bill to your Phone Company every time you answer the phone. They are Thiefs and the Phone Company says that there is nothing they can do about the $6 Charges that they receive from those Thiefs Scummers when you answer the phone. They need to have their Heads Cut Off everyone of those Indian Thief Scummers.

I'm fed up with it. Rang Telstra the other day and got a call centre in the Philippines of all places. I was assured they would fix it but it's still happening. Not a happy chappy.

Why doesn't anyone read previous comments/explanations......? Not a prank call, just a mobile phone trying to deliver a text message to a landline. Answer phone, silence for a couple of seconds, then message comes through. I finally listened after calls every 10 minutes for half an hour.

Telstra Voice to text service.
Simply take the call, listen to the message, and delete it and the go away. If you don't, enjoy listening to them trying to deliver the message again, and again.
